Dynamat Extreme Sound Proofing

Part Number DYN10455

This is a bulk pack of some 36 square feet. This is supplied as 6 sheets of 3 foot by 2 foot sections. The car is now so much quieter inside and the doors shut with a lovely solid thud sound.

I used a single sheet on the roof space behind the sunroof.

I used two sheets underneath the rear seats. I scraped the original FIAT sound proofing away using a plastic scraper which left the following residue. The picture is taken from the front of the car looking down on where the rear seats are usually bolted to the floor.

The remaining residue cleaned up supurbly using metholated spirits.

It was then a rather time consuming matter of sticking the dynamat over the irregular surface.

I used a half a sheet on each side of the rear quarter panels. The worst part of this job was trying to remove the original patchy FIAT sound proofing whilst being careful not to dent the bodywork. This is a view of the near side of the car. You can also see the mass of cables running from front to back carrying things such as power, DAB control, amplifier input, speaker cable, amplifier switch, amplifier control and aerial.

I then used a sheet each on each of the doors. These were tricky to do as they are mainly open and the dynamat had to follow the curves as much as possible so that the door mechanisms still work and the door linings could fit back on. This is the original door stripped back to the metalwork.

This is once it has been covered in dynamat.
